Bodeguita el Tejo
About This Spot
Stepping into Bodeguita el Tejo, you’re welcomed by a sense of easy warmth that feels just like a quiet corner of Mijas Pueblo made for lingering. The pace here is unhurried, inviting visitors to switch off the outside world and soak in a genuinely relaxed neighborhood vibe. Soft live music often hums gently in the background, weaving through the laughter and clinking glasses, giving the space a cozy pulse that feels both familiar and alive.
This is a place where friendships might be struck up over shared plates and where the rhythm of the day is measured more by conversation than by clocks. The attentive team—genuinely welcoming without being intrusive—helps ground the experience in simple human connection, the kind that makes you feel, quietly, that this spot is a local secret worth returning to.
The culinary rhythm at Bodeguita el Tejo reflects this unpretentious spirit. Small plates come with a natural ease, as if inviting everyone at the table to discover flavors together—richer in moments than in fanfare. Whether it’s a tapas selection featuring textured bites like tender jamón with perfectly broken eggs, or lightly grilled vegetables that hold just the right char, the food mirrors the approachable, heartfelt atmosphere.
Desserts, too, hold a comforting familiarity with subtle surprises, like a creamy cheesecake that’s gentle rather than assertive, or a local Easter treat that seasons guests’ visits with tradition. Drinks, including a mango liqueur with a tequila base, add to the mood without overwhelming, rounding out evenings in a way that feels naturally complete.
While not every plate hits every note perfectly, the overarching feeling here is of a space where care is present—in the service as much as in the kitchen, in the music as much as in the light that spills in through the windows. It’s a reliable kind of charm: unpolished yet genuine, busy yet unhurried, with enough pockets of intimacy to make it feel like a sincere discovery whenever you walk through its doors.

Little gem of a find. The food was incredible, service very friendly and quick. Would definitely return if in the area!

There was live music, which made the atmosphere great. The food was excellent. Dessert was a typical thing that is eaten at Easter. Already forgot the name (Torrija)

A wonderful bar and restaurant in Mijas Pueblo. Theresa and her team were fantastic and welcoming! I look forward to the next visit to Mijas Pueblo and of course Bodeguita el Tejo will be the first place to stop for a drink and some food.

Tapas was great, however remaining corses dissapointing. Tuna tartar with tomatose isn’t tasty and tuna itself wasn’t fresh, it was dry. Atmosphere was damaged because they decided to clean floor with chlorine and that gave bad smell.

This is our 3rd time here this week... because the food, service and ambience is absolutely fantastic. All the server's are genuinely pleasant, Dario and the crew make your evening here a very pleasant experience. The menu and food quality is excellent. On our first night we were lucky enough to experience the live singer (Ian) who was absolutely brilliant including everyone in the restaurant and creating a superb party atmosphere. The place was rocking. Been back here twice since and still very good music and vibe. I'd give this restaurant 12/10 it's that good. Definitely come here for a great night ...
